A demanding climb to the sky above Val Venosta.
A vertical journey through silence and sky
Starting from the top of the St. Martin cable car in Laces, this hike climbs steeply up toward the Picca Vermoi summit ridge. It’s a high-effort, high-reward trail that brings you from lush meadows to barren alpine slopes with sweeping views across the Venosta Valley. This trail is perfect for fit hikers looking for a direct and scenic ascent into the heart of the Ötztal Alps.

Alpine Trails
Best tackled in mid-summer to early autumn when the snow is gone and the ridge is clear. Avoid rainy days due to exposed, slippery sections.
Alpine height from vineyard roots
From the upper cable car station, the trail climbs rapidly along a mix of open switchbacks and forest paths. As you gain altitude, the terrain transitions into alpine rock and scree, with the final portion demanding steady footing and strong lungs. The panoramic views over Val Venosta and the glaciers in the distance make the effort worthwhile. Not recommended for beginners due to the continuous incline.
