A golden circuit above Schenna with sweeping views and fiery larches.
Where autumn ignites the ridges in gold.
This scenic loop from Taser cable car offers one of the finest autumn hikes in the Merano area. It climbs steadily to the panoramic Rifugio Ivigna before heading further up to the striking summit of Cima Lawand (2,597 m). Especially in October, the larch forests surrounding the trail burst into flaming yellows and oranges, creating an unforgettable alpine experience.

Particularly stunning from late September to early November when the larch trees turn vivid gold. Bring a camera — the contrast of blue sky, golden trees, and distant peaks is unforgettable.
Golden larch hike above Schenna
The route begins from the upper station of the Taser cable car, ascending gently toward Rifugio Ivigna through a forest of ever-thinning larches. Once past the rifugio, the trail becomes rockier and ascends more directly to Cima Lawand, offering wide views of the Sarntal Alps. The descent loops around through sunny alpine meadows before returning through the golden forest. Best enjoyed in calm, crisp autumn air.
